SUSTAINABILITY AT FIESTA
Growing Responsibly, From Field to Table
Fiesta Canning Company is a food manufacturer rooted in the agricultural communities of southern Arizona. We produce canned green chiles, enchilada sauces, taco sauces, and specialty ingredients for retail and foodservice customers nationwide. Responsible stewardship of our people, our resources, and the land that feeds our operations is central to how we run this business.
ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
Reducing Our Footprint Across Water, Waste, and Energy
Our manufacturing facility in McNeal, Arizona operates in an arid climate where water is a shared and finite resource. That reality shapes every operational decision we make. We maintain a formal Environmental Aspects and Impacts Register that identifies, scores, and tracks environmental risks across our operations, with defined control measures and measurable targets reviewed on a quarterly and annual cycle.
Our environmental program covers waste management, water consumption, wastewater discharge, packaging materials, and stormwater controls. Every category carries assigned targets, documented control measures, and a scheduled review cadence with management sign-off.
|
15% Reduction target for landfill waste through expanded recycling and waste segregation at the source |
10% Year-over-year reduction target for packaging waste volume through supplier collaboration |
|
10% Process water consumption reduction versus prior year baseline |
90% Target for production scrap diverted from landfill through licensed recovery channels |
Steel Can Packaging
Our products are packaged in steel cans, the most recycled food packaging format in the United States. Steel is infinitely recyclable without loss of quality and requires no refrigeration or freezing for shelf stability, reducing energy demand across the supply chain.
Hazardous Waste Compliance
100% of hazardous materials are disposed through licensed contractors with full manifest documentation. All chemicals are stored in locked, bunded areas with safety data sheets maintained on site.
Wastewater and Stormwater Controls
Process wastewater is managed through a maintained pre-treatment system with regular effluent testing. Discharge consents are held and displayed. Stormwater drainage is inspected for contamination with bunded chemical storage to prevent runoff.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Investing in Our People and Our Communities
Fiesta is rooted in the rural communities of Cochise County, Arizona. Many of our team members live in the same communities where our chiles are grown and our products are made. Our Social Responsibility Policy formalizes commitments to fair labor practices, safe working conditions, diversity and inclusion, and ethical governance across every level of the company.
Fair Compensation and Benefits
All employees are compensated at or above applicable minimum wage, with regular reviews for internal equity and market competitiveness. Benefits include healthcare, paid time off, parental leave, and retirement support. Overtime is compensated in full accordance with local law and is never mandated without agreement.
No Forced or Child Labor
All forms of forced, bonded, trafficked, or compulsory labor are strictly prohibited. Fiesta does not employ individuals below the legal working age in any jurisdiction. These standards extend to our suppliers and business partners.
Workplace Safety
Our facilities meet or exceed occupational health and safety standards. Regular risk assessments and safety training are conducted across all departments. Employees are empowered to report unsafe conditions without fear of retaliation. Mental health and wellbeing support is provided through employee assistance programs.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Hiring, promotion, and compensation decisions are based on skills, qualifications, and performance. We maintain zero tolerance for discrimination or harassment of any kind. Annual pay equity audits are conducted to identify and remediate unjustified pay gaps. DEI training is provided for all employees, with unconscious bias training mandatory for hiring managers.
Whistleblower Protection
A confidential reporting channel is available for any employee, supplier, or community member to report policy violations. Retaliation against anyone who makes a good-faith report is a serious violation of Fiesta policy.

Accountability Built Into Operations

A designated officer is responsible for overseeing implementation of our environmental and social policies, with direct accountability to senior leadership.
Structured Review Cadence
Environmental targets are reviewed on a quarterly or biannual schedule depending on the category, with annual management sign-off. Social responsibility policies are reviewed annually or whenever significant legal or operational changes occur.
Supplier Expectations
Our commitments to labor rights, environmental compliance, and ethical conduct extend to the suppliers and business partners we work with. We expect our supply chain partners to uphold the same standards we apply to our own operations.
